The Kanta-Häme District Court has fined a senior police officer from the Kanta-Häme police department 2,030 euros for breach of duty.

The police officer during a traffic control in the summer of 2013 in Hauho stopped a 20-year-old motorist and threatened to beat him up with the help of his colleague.

The motorists is said to have tried to assault the police officer’s son a few days earlier.

The police officer admitted that he had said the words but denied it had been a case of intimidation.

The incident became public when a video clip of the threat was released on YouTube immediately after the incident where the police officer was found to threaten the youth.

The court made its ruling based on the Police Act in which it states the police is an office and behaviour in private lives should be in a way that it does not endanger the trust in the execution of police tasks.
