FTimes-Xinhua Report, Oct 28

Finnish police said on Monday that suspected that the woman who died in a fatal traffic accident may have done it deliberately.

A private car collided head-on with a bus carrying 15 people in Rautavaata, an eastern town of Finland on Sunday evening, causing the death of all the four people in the car. Two in the bus were seriously injured.

The dead were a female driver of the car and her three young children aged 1, 2 and 6. The injured were sent to hospital for treatment soon after the accident.

Police suspected that the woman who drove the car may have acted intentionally, Heikki Mansikka-aho, Detective Chief Inspector from Northern Savo Police department, told Finnish national broadcaster YLE on Monday.

"Initial reports and events leading up to the accident strongly suggest that the act was deliberate. Driving conditions did not play a role," Mansikka-aho was quoted as saying.

According to police, the woman obviously knew that her husband was on the bus, and the man said to be on the bus is the father of the two younger children who died in the tragedy.

However, police is so far still difficult to make sure whether the woman acted because her husband was on board.

The case is now under investigation by police cooperating with the Safety Investigation Authority of Finland.
