Advance voting in the parliamentary elections begins today, eleven days before the official voting day.

The national elections will be held across the country from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on April 19 to elect 200 parliament members for the next four years.

For the parliamentary elections, the country has been divided into 13 electoral districts.

The advance voting will be held from April 8 to April 14 in Finland and April 8 to April 11 abroad.

However, advance voting in other polling stations abroad will take a much shorter time.

Eligible voters can cast their votes in any general polling station during the time stipulated for the advance voting.

Voters must present proof of their identity both when voting on the election day and when voting in advance. The identification must have a photo on it.

There are over 900 designated general polling stations in the country where advance voting will take place.

The advance polling stations includes municipal and town hall, libraries, shopping centres as well as post offices.

The location of all the polling stations can be checked from the elections website www.vaalit.fi.

During the official voting day, voters may cast their votes at the polling station stated in the voting register and on the card sent to them before the elections.

Persons whose ability to move is so restricted that they are unable to come to an advance polling station or a polling station on election day without undue hardship are entitled to vote in advance at home.

The family carer of a person entitled to vote at home, living in the same household, may under certain conditions also vote at home.
