A witness account about a couple of men carrying locked bicycles led to the uncovering of a dozen stolen bicycles by the Häme police.

The police were informed after midnight on Saturday about two men carrying locked bicycles at downtown Hämeenlinna.

The police arrested the men on suspicion of theft.

Investigations later established that the two suspects stole a dozen Jopo brand bicycles in Hämmenlinna region in spring. Some of the stolen bicycles were sold online.

Furthermore, the police have discovered different caches of about 20 bicycles. It seems some of those bicycles were stolen last summer in the Lahti region.

The police are in the process of establishing the owners of the bicycles with the help of crime reports filed on them.

The police have also advised people to be cautious while buying bicycles online.
