A total of 195,700 offences were recorded by the police, customs and border guard from January to June 2015, which is 7,400 cases or 3.6 per cent fewer than in the corresponding period of one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland's preliminary data.
The number of property offences recorded was 110,300, which was 5.6 per cent down from January to June 2014. The recorded number of crimes against life and health was 17,000, which is 540 cases less than in the early part of 2014.
In addition, 201,700 cases of endangerment of traffic safety and traffic infractions were registered, the data show.
A majority of the recorded offences are recorded by the police.
During January to June 2015, the police recorded 190,000 offences. In all, 3,700 offences were recorded by customs, which is 15.8 per cent less than in 2014. The border guard recorded 2,000 offences, which is 10.2 per cent less than in 2014.
During January to June 2015, a total of 12,700 frauds were recorded, which was 7.5 per cent up from the year before. The number of frauds has grown considerably in the 2000s. In January to June 2000, their recorded number was 5,800.
In January to June 2015, a total of 760 aggravated frauds were recorded, which is 7.1 per cent less than one year earlier.
Altogether, 800 robberies were reported, which was 3.5 per cent more than in January to June 2014 but fewer than in the early 2000s when 145 aggravated robberies were reported.
During early 2015, a total of 64,400 theft offences were reported, which was 3,600 cases fewer than in 2014. Aggravated thefts numbered 1,600 which remain unchanged from the year before.
The number of break-ins into houses recorded was 2,850, which was 230 cases lower than in January to June 2014. Altogether, 23,100 thefts and petty thefts from shops were recorded, which was 800 cases fewer than in early 2014.
During January to June 2015, damages to property numbered 18,200, which is 3,100 cases or 14.6 per cent fewer than in the previous year. Altogether, 120 aggravated damages to property were reported.
The number of assault offences recorded was 16,000 during the first half of 2015, which is 500 cases fewer than in January to June 2014, the data show.
Over the past ten years, 16,700 assault offences, on average, have been reported in January to June period. Compared with 2014, aggravated assaults went up by 2.9 per cent.
The number of rapes recorded was 500, against 470 one year earlier.
Over the past ten years, the average number of rapes has been 400 in the January to June period. The recorded number of sexual exploitations of a child was 680, which was 6.4 per cent fewer than in January to June 2014.
During the first half of the year, 86 cases of sexual abuse were reported. The recorded numbers of rapes and sexual exploitations of a child reported to the authorities vary much yearly.
A total of 8,700 drunken driving cases were reported in January to June 2015, which is 2.6 per cent more than in 2014. Nearly one-half of the recorded drunken driving cases were aggravated drunken driving.
The number of narcotics offences recorded was 11,600, which is up by 12.2 per cent on the year before. The number of aggravated narcotics offences went down by 7.5 per cent as per the statistics.
