Liikanen announced the gesture to donate euro 10,000 to the Finnish Red Cross through the Hunger Day donations in Facebook post.
Furthermore, he urged his friends to support the solution to the refugee crisis in the best way they see fit.
“First, we need political solutions in which the support of major power is essential. Second, people should help in crisis areas near their homes. Third, when people flee for their lives, we have to help them also the refugees in our country,” Liikanen wrote.
