A meeting of Prime Minister Juha Sipilä with the interior ministry and law-enforcing agencies on Tuesday discussed a legislative process whereby a person convicted of aggravated crimes could be deported from the country quickly.

The bill is scheduled to be tabled in parliament in the spring.

The police and the interior ministry said disorderliness and violence have increased in reception centres and its environs, and both the asylum seekers and native population are culpable.

A review of the situation was given by Prime Minister Juha Sipilä, Interior Minister Petteri Orpo and Justice Minister Jari Lindström after a crisis meeting held at the parliament building on Tuesday evening following the rape of a teenage girl in Kempele.

A local 14-year-old girl was raped at around 10:30 pm on Monday evening.

National Police Commissioner Seppo Kolehmainen also attended the crisis meeting.

The premier said the meeting agenda was based on increased disorderly behaviour.

According to Sipilä, the Kempele rape was just one incident which the police have reported.

“One side or the other of violence committed must be condemned,” Sipilä said after the meeting.

Sipilä said the rape incident in Kempele has not affected his recent decision to hand over his house for asylum seekers’ accommodation.
