The main opposition party in parliament, Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue-SDP (Social Democratic Party of Finland) is now the most supported party in the country, according to a latest survey by the national broadcaster Yle.
 
SDP's popularity has increased by 1.7 percentage points in a month’s time to 22.7 percent.
 
On the other hand, the support for ruling party Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) has decreased by 0.2 percent to 21.4 percent during the period.
 
SDP is the only opposition party which enjoyed increase in popularity during the period and its support has soured by over 8 percent since June.
 
A survey by Finnish language Helsingin Sanomat before Christmas also showed that SDP has surpassed Keskusta as the most popular party in the country.
 
The support for Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) increased by 0.4 percent to 18.7 percent, while Perussuomalaiset’s (Finns Party) support remained at 8.9 percent.
 
The support for Vihreä liitto (Green League) dropped by a percentage point to 11.7 percent in a month’s time.
 
According to the survey, the Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) support is at 7.3 percent while the Suomen Kristillisdemokraatit (Christian Democrats of Finland) support is now standing at 3.9 percent.
 
The survey was conducted by Taloustutkimus and 2,000 people were interviewed. The margin of error was +/- 1.8 percent.
