The South Karelia District Court on Thursday sentenced a young man for rape. The incident oc-curred, according to the court, at a party with 15-20 other people in attendance.
According to the court, a 16-year-old girl had been taken to a bathroom due to intoxication, and a 16-year-old boy came in to find her lying on the floor. According to the district court, the boy pulled her pants down in the bathroom and raped her.
The girl was intoxicated and may have been unconscious during the act. The court said that the girl's functional capacity was reduced and she was unable to give consent.
The court sentenced the boy to a year and four months of suspended imprisonment and 40 hours of community service.
