FTimes – STT Report, Jan 6

A man who was drowned in ice on Tuesday in Suvisaaristo maritime district of Espoo was airlifted by rescue helicopter.

A man and woman were out fishing in the sea when the man was downed.

The woman held on to the man using a rope.

The border guard rescue helicopter, patrol boat and the rescue units from Western Uusimaa and Western Uusimaa Police Department were alerted to the situation.

The man was lifted to the ground and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The Gulf of Finland Coast Guard has once again warned against the weak ice. It is still not safe to wade on frozen water bodies.
