The French-manufactured Super Puma helicopter is the first of the two helicopters ordered by Finland.
The new helicopters will be based in Helsinki and will replace the Agusta AB 412 helicopters.
The acquisition will improve the Gulf of Finland’s safety, said the Border Guard.
“The new Super Puma AS332L1e can save up to 15 persons at a time, which is absolutely essential in major rescue operations,” said Antti Pesari, commander of Air Patrol Squadron at Finnish Border Guard.
The helicopter may also be used to conduct operations in very bad weather conditions more safely than in the past.
According to Pesari, the new helicopters are equipped with the best and the latest available technology.
