The websites of several ministries of the government were temporarily crippled by a denial-of-service (DOS) attack on Thursday evening.
The websites, however, resumed normal operation on Wednesday afternoon, sources at the ministries said.
The origin of the DOS attack was not yet clear, said Valtori Kari Pessi, chief executive officer of the government ICT centre.
Valtori will investigate the matter in conjunction with the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (Ficora).
The attack was directed at the state’s joint publication platform. The interference affected the websites of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Financial Stability Authority.
