Wed, 24 Feb, 2016 12:06:30 AM FTimes – STT Report, Feb 24 ![]() File Photo – Lehtikuva. More than 30 municipalities do not intend to limit the subjective right to daycare in defiance of the government decision, according to a survey by the Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ).
Based on the survey, the decision to limit the right to daycare will be focused on Eastern Finland.
In some municipalities of Eastern Finland, the daycare right will be limited to 20 hours per week instead of 25 hours.
OAJ plans to complete the survey next week, with a view to get response on restriction of daycare from all municipalities.
A total of 55 municipalities responded to the survey.
The government decided last year to cut the right to daycare to only half a day, if one parent remains at home.
At the same time, it was decided to increase class sizes and daycare fees.
The restriction in question is the minimum number. Municipalities can provide more comprehensive daycare, if they decide to finance it themselves.
A draft law on increasing services charges for early childhood education goes in circulation for comments on Wednesday.
