Finance Minister Alexander Stubb has requested the national broadcaster Yle to provide the police and the Tax Administration with the Panama Papers materials for investigation.

He made the appeal on his Facebook page.

Stubb pointed out that the Tax Administration is already cooperating with an international investigation into the affair.

Stubb on Tuesday discussed the issue of tax evasion and the Panama Papers with Tax Administration Director General Pekka Ruuhonen.

Yle said they will not give the materials to the police. Yle justified its decision last week, saying the operations of the network which collected the information would be threatened if the materials were released.

The leaked documents show, among other things, connections between the financial group Nordea and the Panama law firm Mossack Fonseca, which is suspected of aiding in the tax evasion.
