Former chairman of Suomen ruotsalainen kansanpuolue (Swedish People’s Party of Finland-RKP) Carl Haglund has requested to be released from his parliamentary position by the end of July.

The Speaker’s Council supports his request. Earlier this month, Haglund gave up the chairmanship of the RKP and Anna-Maja Henriksson was elected the party chair.

Haglund will take up the position of a deputy managing director at the bioenergy supplier Kaidi beginning in August.

The Sunshine Kaidi New Energy Group has biomass refineries in various parts of China and Vietnam. Haglund’s responsibilities relate to their European investment strategy.

“This is a natural extension of the work I have done in politics. Kaidi’s technological solutions are expected to contribute to the cooperative climate change objectives, and at the same time, create new jobs and business opportunities in Europe and Finland,” Haglund said in a company statement.

Kaidi is planning to expand its operations from Asia to Europe. A Kaidi subsidiary is currently planning a large bio-refinery in Kemi.
