The Helsinki Appellate Court sentenced 15 defendants in the so-called Anton Receipt Trading Case to jail for tax evasion and aggravated tax fraud. All but one imprisonment were conditional.

The Anton Case has mainly involved avoiding past taxes but also included sales of unjustified subcontracting invoices for construction companies between 2003 and 2005.

On Thursday, according to the court, the convicts confessed to invoice ordering companies, which made them accountable for the joint avoidance of taxes. The avoided taxes ranged from 20,000 euros to 300,000 euros.

The case is one of the Finland’s most complex criminal cases. The Appellate Court already considered it once, but the Supreme Court returned it to the lower court regarding 50 defendants. The majority of the issues, for example, the conciliation procedures, have been solved.
