A miraculous survival of two falling paragliding adventurers in southwestern Finland on Sunday triggered an investigation into their possible neglect of official ordinances of the sport.
Two middle aged men had been flying motorized paragliders over Paimio, southern Finland when their wings were entangled. One of the men managed to open a backup wing. Using the wing both men spiralled down from 150 metres height to the bank of the Paimio river.
Both survived the fall, but one of them had serious injuries, the police said.
Inspector Pertti Laksy of the local police said the case was now being investigated as an infringement of traffic safety.
The Finnish Board of Aviation has ordered that such flying objects must remain at a distance of 150 metres from each other, the police said.
