A child running while holding a mobile phone in his hands was hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing on Saturday in Rusko, Southwest Finland.

The boy flew across the car’s bonnet landing on the asphalt.

According to the police, the accident happened at 12:30am. The boy, however, miraculously escaped serious injuries.

The police pointed out that motorists nearing the pedestrian crossing should be driving at speed which makes it possible, if necessary, to stop before reaching the pedestrian crossing.

In respect to the pedestrian crossing, the law especially calls for caution in the case of children or other people who may have difficulties coping with traffic.

The police stressed that pedestrians also need to take extra caution during dark period of the year.
