The possible extradition of the chief editor of anti-immigrant publication MV lehti, Ilja Janitskin to Finland could last from weeks to months, if Spanish authorities conclude that the conditions for a warrant for arrest are met.

Janitskin reported on Saturday via Facebook that he had been detained by Spanish authorities for three nights and released on Saturday.

He also uploaded to Facebook the Spanish documents, whose title refers to a European arrest warrant.

According to the warrant, he must keep authorities informed of his telephone number and address.

Helsinki District already issued a warrant for arrest of Janitskin in absentia in Finland.

Helsinki District Prosecutor Heikki Wendorf has also taken measures to issue a European arrest warrant, with fast-track extradition procedures.
