A man suspected of setting fire to a house in Kuopio on Sunday was detained, police said.
Three people including the suspect were inside the house when the fire broke out. The trio came out of the house in time, and no one was hurt, but the house was destroyed beyond repair.
Emergency services received the alarm for the fire on Järvenpäätie at about 3 am on Sunday morning.
Based on interviews and a preliminary fire investigation, the police suspect criminal wrongdoing.
The police detained from the scene of the fire a man from Rautavaara born in 1981, who was a guest in the house when the fire started. He is suspected of starting the fire, police said.
It is not clear where the fire originated. Similarly, the police yet do not have a possible motive for the fire.
