Kela approved Aaltonen, who is the director-general of the Eastern Finland Regional State Administrative Agency, as a candidate for the post more than a month ago. Her name was discussed on Thursday in a government session.
Aaltonen was chosen randomly after the vote, as Kela’s votes were split equally between her and Social Affairs and Health Ministry Director-General Outi Antila.
Aaltonen takes over as the new DG at the turn of the year succeeding Liisa Hyssälä.
