The Eastern Finland Police Department suspect a 27-year-old man of strangling his wife aged 28 in a house at Virtasalmi, Pieksämäki.
The man who got married to the victim under the common law reported the incident himself to the emergency response centre, the police said.
The man admitted to the crime during the preliminary investigation.
The police refused to divulge the motive of the murder. The matter is being investigated as murder.
