On the other hand, the volume of retail trade sales, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, went up by 1.9 per cent over the same period.
In daily consumer goods trade, sales grew by 5.8 per cent while in department store trade sales grew by 4.4 per cent in a year.
However, wholesale trade contracted by 2.0 per cent and motor vehicle sales contracted by 18.8 per cent since last year. In total trade, sales contracted by 2.7 per cent in May.
In the January to May period, retail trade sales grew by 1.4 per cent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
In contrast, the wholesale trade sales went down by 2.2 per cent while motor vehicle sales by 27.9 per cent over the corresponding period.
In total trade, sales went down by 5.0 per cent in January to May compared to the same period of the year before.
