Finnish companies have developed a smart car service, which integrates personal information of drivers, car maintenance and driving information into a singe application.

The Finnish car repair chain Autosi, driving-related data operator Helpten and telecommunication operator Elisa will jointly introduce to the market the world first smart car service.

According to Autosi's press release, the smart car service is based on a transmitter attached to a car, which communicates with cloud-based software and the repair shop.

Drivers can use their smart phones to access the service.

Timo Kemppainen, the director of Autosi, said that by using the service, drivers no longer need to drive to the repair shop to diagnose sudden faults. Instead, the Autosi repair shop can see the fault codes immediately and advise drivers to take appropriate actions. In addition, drivers can also receive automatic reminders of regular maintenance and vehicle inspections.

Kemppainen introduced that the next services to drivers will include roadside service and vehicle's emergency call system, which enables drivers to call for help in case of an accident with a single touch of a botton.

The service application can be installed in almost all types of cars, and provide services to over 1 million Finnish private car drivers. It is to be launched in December, and started to be available to private car drivers step by step from the early part of 2014.
