The employment of mothers of families with several children decreased from 2012 to 2013, according to Statistics Finland's data.
The employment of mothers with one child, however, remained unchanged during the time, said the data derived from the annual Labour Force Survey review Families and work in 2013 .
By contrast, the employment of mothers with several children declined and unemployment increased.
In families with at least three children, the employment rate of mothers decreased by eight percentage points and the unemployment rate rose by five percentage points, the data show.
The number of children does not have much impact on the employment and unemployment rate of fathers.
In families where the youngest child is under three years old, the employment rate of mothers declined by five percentage points from 2012 to 2013, according to the statistics.
