Sat, 29 Nov, 2014 12:00:27 AM FTimes- Xinhua Report, Nov. 29 ![]() Photo AFP-Lehtikuva. The eurozone's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 11.5 percent in October, unchanged compared with that of September this year, according to the EU statistical office Eurostat on Friday.
However, the reported seasonally-adjusted rate for the same period in 2013 was 11.9 percent.
The 28-nation bloc's unemployment rate was 10.0 percent in October, down from 10.7 percent in October of last year.
Eurostat estimated that 24.4 million men and women in the EU, of whom 18.4 million were in the 18-nation eurozone, were unemployed in October 2014.
Among the member states, the lowest unemployment rates this year were recorded in Germany and Austria, and the highest in Spain and Greece, with the latter registering a rate of 25.9 percent in August.
Compared with a year ago, the unemployment rate this October fell in 22 member states, increased in five, and remained stable in Luxembourg.
The largest annual decrease was registered in Hungary, with the rate down from 10.0 percent to 7.3 percent, and the highest increase was registered in Italy, with the rate growing from 12.3 percent to 13.2 percent.
