The Helsinki police are investigating a case in which a restaurant chain is suspected of evading taxes and receiving stolen goods worth over a million euros.
The chain has restaurants in Helsinki, Lahti and Tampere.
The suspected restaurant chain has been engaged in so-called “overselling” from 2010. Police also suspect that the tax evasion was planned.
Criminal inspector Ismo Siltamäki has found, among other things, over euro hundred thousand in cash during searches in the investigation.
“Criminal charges are likely to be fully warranted,” Siltamäki said in a statement.
The investigation began in Tampere in cooperation with the tax authorities and the local police.
When the case was suspected of extending to the Lahti and Helsinki locations, the investigation was transferred to the Helsinki economic crime unit.
