Cuba has promised to repay Finland decade-long debts, reported the national broadcaster Yle on Saturday.
Cuba is expected to pay back 37.8 million euros in 18 years. The loan was taken from Finland 30 years ago.
An agreement related to the debt repayment was signed by Under Secretary of State Pirkko Hämäläinen and the Cuban vice president of the Council of Ministers in Havana.
According to Yle, the officials who promote international trade in the country consider the agreement to be an important step in promoting trade between the countries.
The state-owned financing company Finnvera announced that it was ready to guarantee small export trade to Cuba.
