Heinäluoma bagged 143 votes in a secret ballot process in the parliament, when the parliamentary spring session kicked off.

Last year, Heinäluoma received 153 votes and in 2012 he got 156 votes. Pekka Ravi of the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) will also continue as the first deputy speaker, receiving 160 votes during Monday’s poll.

The parliamentary session also saw Pirkko Ruohonen-Lerner, the head of the Perussuomalaiset (Finns party) parliamentary group, being replaced at the helm by Jari Lindström.

The parliament is still to elect the second deputy speaker of the parliament. Meanwhile, Anssi Joutsenlahti of the Perussuomalaiset (True Finns Party) will continue in that role.
