Usually Allianssi organises about ten camps a year, but this year the number of camps is 22.
More than 200 foreign volunteers usually visit the country in summer to take part in activities such as renovating buildings and to act as mentors.
Most of the campers come from European countries. However, the number of applicants outside Europe has been on the rise.
The number of volunteers this summer is likely to exceed the capacity of the camps.
The majority of participants are between the age of 18 and 25. Some of the volunteer camps are designated for 16 to 17-year olds.
Finns can also participate in programmes abroad through Allianssi. More than 2,000 camps in about 60 countries are organised every year.
