At least 20 persons were killed and 684 injured in road traffic accidents across Finland in August.
At total of 535 accidents happened in road traffic in the month, according to preliminary data of Statistics Finland.
The number of persons killed was 2 lower and that of persons injured 20 lower than in August 2013.

Of the persons who were killed, 11 travelled by passenger car, two by van, one by lorry and three by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered three. Among those who died, 14 were men and six women, the statistics show.
A total of 3,429 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to August period, killing 144 persons and injuring 4,331 others.
