The police last week caught 10,400 motorists for over speeding following a massive traffic operation which was part of a wider European surveillance operation.
Over a thousand motorists who were caught over-speeding were handed driving bans.
The number of motorists over-speeding has risen by almost four hundred compared to the figure from last year.
Over a half of the total speeding cases were exposed by automated speeding detecting devices.
The use of safety belt has, however, improved compared to the situation last year. The police also found 1,200 people travelling without seat belts during the operation.
The police searched 12,000 vehicles and also arrested 71 wanted persons.
During the operation, 20 illegal immigrants were also arrested.
