Finland will this week conduct an aerial surveillance flight over Russia's airspace. The operation began on Monday and will end on Friday.
The operation which will be carried out using a Swedish reconnaissance aircraft involves nine Finns and a crew of six Swedes.
According to the Finnish Defense Forces, the maximum mission flight to Russia is 5500 kilometres and is part of Open Skies treaty aimed at promoting transparency and enhancing security in Europe.
The treaty allows the member countries to carry out observation flights over the territory of other participating countries according to a pre-established plan.
