The Central Election Commission for the City of Turku has filed a report to the police to investigate an incident of possible voting anomaly, reported the Finnish language daily Turun Sanomat.

According to the report, there is a possibility that one personal identification number had been used to vote by two different persons.

The incident became apparent when one person in Turku went to cast vote during the advance voting.

According to the information system, the voter’s name appeared on the list of voters who had already cast their ballot in Jyväskylä. The Turku resident was, however, allowed to vote.

Director of Electoral Administration Arto Jääskeläinen suspects the incident is a case of human typographical error.

“If the error entry can be identified, it will be removed and will no longer be strange. Turku votes will be taken into account quite normally,” Jääskeläinen was quoted by the daily as saying.
