The City of Lahti is not addressing the indoor air quality problems for the Laune school quickly enough, says Chancellor of Justice Jaakko Jonkka.
The chancellor points out that the city authorities are obliged to provide a safe, working environment for both the staff and students.
According to a complaint made to the chancellor’s office, the school staff experienced symptoms repeatedly in the 2012-2013 academic year. As many as 20 teachers quit their jobs because of the air quality problems.
The school, built in 1964, has been renovated several times, but addressing its problems has proven to be exceptionally difficult.
According to the chancellor, the process of finding a temporary location for the school’s activities has also been unnecessarily slow.
