The Finnish Defence Forces have begun the preparation and consultation process related to expropriation of the Sarviniemi area in Taipalsaari, according to a Finnish language newspaper, Helsingin Sanomat.
The consultation process involves property owners and other stakeholders. The Ministry of Defence expects to get responses by August 20.
The Defence Forces intend to expropriate the Sarviniemi area located near a shooting range.
A Russian buyer is also interested in the plot.
The Defence Forces are ready to expropriate the plot, because the purchase price has not been agreed on.
According to the Helsinki Sanomat, the state offered 3.4 million euros for the plot back in the spring. The Russian buyer is reported to have offered a better deal.
