The life sentence awarded to a male nurse who was convicted in the Salo poison case for murder of an elderly woman, among other crimes, was upheld by the Turku Court of Appeal on Friday.
The man was convicted by the District Court of Southwest Finland for murder and three attempted murder charges.
According to the court, the 55-year-old male nurse poisoned the elderly woman to death last autumn in Salo. The court said the convict had financial motive to kill his victim.
In all, the male nurse was convicted of all the nine crimes he faced in court. Furthermore, the male nurse and her female friend were found to be imposters as they were not qualified nurses.
The investigations into the case began when the elderly victim’s relatives raised suspicions on how the elderly woman was using money.
The convict's lawyer Matti Alasentie on Friday afternoon said he had not spoken to his client re-garding the verdict and whether to lodge an appeal to the Supreme Court.
