A Former Transport Workers' Union (AKT) Chairman, Timo Räty was on Friday fined by the District Court of Helsinki for firing an employee in 2012.
Räty was sentenced to a 20-day fine, totaling euro 480, for workplace discrimination.
The Transport Workers' Union board of directors fired Hilkka Ahde, from her post as head of communications in March 2012.
The termination came at the same time as Ahde's complaint about Räty's conduct as chairman in handling health and safety authorities.
Other past and present AKT board members have been sentenced in legal proceedings. They all received 10-day fines. Räty, however, denied the charges, and thus a traditional trial was held.
The District Court held that Räty's activities were especially reprehensible, as he committed his crime while chairman of a workers union.
