The opposition parties in parliament on Friday submitted an interpellation to the parliament seeking government´s clarification on downsizing the employment fund.
In the interpellation the main opposition Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland), Vihreä liitto (Green League) and the Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) asked for answers from the government why employment appropriations have been cut despite growing unemployment and in particular the increase of long-term unemployment.
The chair of the Left Alliance Paavo Arhinmäki said that Prime Minister Juha Sipilä's administration is repeating the mistakes of former premier Esko Aho.
“The Finnish society is still paying for the mistakes of Aho's government and the humane decline brought by the 1990s recession,” said Arhinmäki at a press conference on Friday.
