After falling by 0.3 percent in August, unemployment rate in France was up by 0.6 percent in September as tepid economic growth slowed job creation in the eurozone's second largest economy, official figures showed on Friday.

Last month, France registered 19,200 more jobless people, bringing country's total number of jobseekers to more than 3.4 million, the Labour Ministry said in its monthly report.

On a yearly basis, claims for jobless benefits grew by 4.3 percent, it added.

Over the period , more old people without works entered the domestic job market. Their number rose by 1 percent on monthly basis and jumped by 11.1 percent against September 2013.

The ruling Socialists who pumped millions of euros to incite companies to hire young and poorly-qualified unemployed people, recorded 0.4-percent rise in demands of jobseekers aged under 25 years.

"The government's reforms will have a significant effect on productivity, competitiveness and employment. (But), reforms need time to bear fruit," Labor Minister Francois Rebsamen said.

After his promise to reverse the unemployment trend by the end of 2013 wasn't fulfilled, French President Francois Hollande wanted the number of unempolyment to fall below 3 million by the end of his mandate in 2017.
