The young and unemployed are eagerly looking for work and do not expect an excessive working life, according to a survey report released on Wednesday by the Slot Machine Association (RAY).

The study found the young people interviewed would be willing to accept employment with an average net monthly wage of 1363 euros.

“It was a surprise that they would willingly take a job that offered such a low average monthly wage,” said specialist Timo Mulari of RAY.

Over 200 unemployed people aged 18-29 years responded to the economic survey.

About half of the respondents would be willing to accept almost any job. If the job offered was related in some way to their training, at least 70 per cent were willing to accept it.

“They are not picky at all. But of course the labour market is difficult, and even if you’re not picky, you still may not get a job,” said Mulari.

Young people look forward to applying for jobs. Almost nine out of ten respondents reported that they are actively seeking work.
