The value of Finnish exports decreased by 11 per cent in April, according to the Finnish Customs preliminary statistics on foreign trade.
 
On the other hand, the value of imports increased by four per cent compared with that of one year ago.
 
The value of exports was almost 4.3 billion euros and that of imports 4.5 billion euros.
 
The trade balance showed a deficit of 225 million euros in April. Calculated from January to April, there was a deficit of almost 1.1 billion euros.
 
During the same period last year, the balance of trade showed a deficit of 305 million euros. Last year the trade balance for April showed a surplus of 475 million euros.
 
According to the Customs, the value of refined oil exports has dropped for two years running.
 
Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU decreased by six per cent and to non-EU countries by 12 per cent. During the same period, imports from EU member states fell by two per cent and from other countries by seven per cent.
