Hartikainen, now on official leave, was however given a serious admonition as well notified on the code of conduct.
According to Interior Minister Päivi Räsänen, he did not influence the recruitment of his wife at the customs.
However, the head of customs participated in a reprehensible manner by discussing the status of his wife.
Hartikainen’s position was also assessed in respect to two other aspects. He had interfered with the operations of the customs while on leave of absence and in addition had criticised the head of personnel at the customs in public.
Hartikainen will return to work in early June but until then Leo Nissinen will temporarily continue to head the customs.
