Several attempts to con people in Otsrobothnia region in which elderly people were the main targets were reported over the weekend.
According to the police, calls were made to the elderly people asking for money by people pretending to be their relatives.
In one case, a caller pretending to be a relative asked for money because the caller’s car had been stolen.
However, according to the police, the fraudsters had not succeeded in the cases that had been reported to them.
The elderly people who had been targeted made calls to the right relatives for confirmation.
The police have advised the elderly to be cautious of the scam calls and to contact the police hotline in case of any such attempt.
