Keskusta (Centre Party) leader and Minister of Transport and Communications Anne Berner on Saturday admitted to Yle that she had agreed originally to be a candidate for the Kokoomus (Conservative Party) in April 19 parliamentary elections.

Even in January the Kokoomus network news had stated that Berner was originally going to be their party’s candidate in the spring 2015 elections.

In the Yle news story Berner admitted that she had signed a candidature agreement with the Kokoomus in the September of 2014.

“Yes. It is not a matter I have ever denied nor confirmed,”' she said.

The data that Yle has indicates that Berner’s agreement with the Kokoomus party bound her solely as a candidate for them.

Berner’s candidacy that was lined up for the Keskusta was then announced in January.

Yle says Berner wanted to negotiate with the Kokoomus party as a possible minister in good time before the elections.

Berner denies this and points out that the election result solved the issue.

On her website she stated her candidacy and that the ideologies and values of the Keskusta support her vision of what Finland needs.

“'I keep my word. And my heart,” Berner wrote on the website.

Berner is the principle owner of her family business – Vallila Interiors.  She is also known for being the figurehead of the new Children’s Hospital construction project.
