A fire that broke out in a terraced house in Vaasa on Saturday completely gutted one of the five apartments and caused extensive damage to another.
One male resident was slightly injured in the fire and was taken to hospital. The rescue department on Erämiehenkatu received the alarm a little after three in the morning.
All apartments were successfully evacuated and the fire department arrived in good time, which succeeded in preventing further spread of the fire.
The Fire Chief estimated that the fire would have, if sustained, spread to nearby buildings.
Six fire station units attended to extinguish the fire. The Police and Rescue department are investigating as to where and how the fire broke out in the two storey terraced building.
