Joensuu is the latest municipality where free legal service was launched in mid-January.
Well over a hundred lawyers are involved in the voluntary work across the country, said the Finnish Bar Association.
Mostly, people are in need of advice on matters related to inheritance, which accounted for more than a third of all questions.
Matter concerning divorce, child custody, over-indebtedness, work relations and different legal issues concerning trade are also raised, said Janne Laukkanen, the head of communications and development at the Finnish Bar Association.
“A lot is asked about inheritance and wills because many have to deal with them at some stage. This is probably also evident in the aging of the baby boomers,” said Laukkanen.
They [baby boomers] have assets which they want to plan for inheritance.
Matters related to divorce and parental responsibilities do not affect so many people but, according to Laukkanen, they are often challenging and puzzling.
