FTimes – Xinhua Report, Feb 3

Helsinki Police caught a Finnish man on the list of the Europol's most wanted fugitives, reported Finnish media on Tuesday.

Europol, the European Police Office, published a new list of some 44 most wanted fugitives last Friday. Two Finns, a man and a woman, were on the list.

The man named Dimitri Allan Lindeman was arrested by the Finnish police in Helsinki on Monday.

Born in 1965, Lindeman had been sentenced to two years of unconditional imprisonment for aggravated assault, according to the Finnish daily Iltasanomat. He had seriously injured a victim by a sharp weapon.

Lindeman had managed to evade police for a couple of years.

Hannu Kautto, Detective Chief Inspector of the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), told Iltasanomat that NBI had received some clues about the fugitive, and the Helsinki police successfully located him.

Kautto said that Lindeman tried to present the wrong identity when he was found by the police.

Lindeman was probably the first one to have been caught up among the lately wanted criminals, said Kautto.

The Finnish woman listed in the most wanted criminals is named Maria Cecilia Kettunen. The 29-year-old woman, the only female in the Europol's list, is alleged of aggravated fraud.

Kettunen has been escaped from the authorities for ten years.

Kautto said that the police had obtained some clues about her, but more information is needed.

The woman has not been found in Finland. It is possible that she has moved to the other place in Europe, added the police officer.
