The South Savonia District Court on Thursday sentenced the Eastern Finland deputy police chief, Jarmo Nykänen for endangering traffic safety.

The court fined Nykänen 55 day-fines of his income equivalent to euro 3,740.

Nykänen was found to drive at 132 kilometers per hour in Juva at an area where the designated speed limit was 80 km/h in December last year.

Nykänen had been temporarily banned from driving since December 10.

The ban, however, will be rescinded after the sentence since driving ban is not imposed on endangering traffic safety.

The prosecutor had called for aggravated endangering of traffic conviction.
