The Central Finland District Court has sentenced a man to three and a half years in prison for throwing petrol bombs at a refugee reception center, reported Finnish national broadcaster Yle on Friday.

The man threw 5 home-made petrol bombs at a reception center in Petäjävesi, central Finland, in February, breaking a window and igniting a closet, which generated a lot of smoke in the building.

The man was caught and arrested soon after the attack. No one was injured in the incident.

The court convicted the defendant of attempted arson and sentenced him to three and a half years of imprisonment, according to Yle.

When the incident occurred, the Petäjävesi reception center had accommodated about 80 asylum seekers, most of whom were children.

More than 32,500 asylum seekers arrived in Finland in 2015, 10 times of the number in a normal year.

Late last year and early this year, there were several cases of suspected arsons and petrol bomb attacks targeting reception centers in Finland.
